Chad Storey operated his own landscape business for 17 years before becoming the manager at Siegmund Landscape Supply last summer. During his years as a landscape contractor, Chad did landscape maintenance, installed irrigation systems, planted lawns, and designed custom walls, lighting, patios, fire pits and more.
Chad grew up in Stayton, where he played sports and worked in his parents’ yard with his dad as a child and middle schooler. In high school, Chad was a three-sport athlete and worked at Girod’s Supermarket and Norpac Foods Cannery. He attended Western Oregon University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English Literature and a minor in Psychology. Right out of college, Chad got a job with the State of Oregon, SAIF Department. Chad quickly realized that a building or office setting seemed “like a prison” to him so, after three weeks of working in a cubical, he quit his job with the State and began his career as a landscape contractor. Chad says he has loved working in the outdoors ever since, and his degree helped greatly in running his business, understanding people, and knowing how to work with clients. Of his new job managing Siegmund Landscape Supply, Chad says, “I’m enjoying it. I spend 50% of my time in the office and 50% of my time outside – the perfect ratio for me now that I’m in my 40s.”
Outside of work, Chad enjoys raising his two teenage daughters, Emma and Rosa with his wife, Vicky. When they aren’t watching Emma play basketball or Rosa sing in the school choir, the family has a lot of fun going on vacations, watching movies on Netflix, camping, hiking, or watching crazy videos on their iPhones and laughing together. Chad is involved with Foothills Church, where he loves helping out with the youth group. People always tell Chad that he’s crazy, he figures what better place to help out than with crazy middle school boys! He says it’s cool watching them learn about Jesus while at the same time getting to hit them with dodge balls. Chad also says that time with his wife is his oasis. With busy jobs and teenage kids, it’s not often, but the couple does find time to get away to go on dates and be alone together. “Vicky keeps me stable, and is the muse to my creativity. I feel so blessed to have her and my girls in my life.”
