What do you most enjoy about landscaping?

I enjoy the creativity in landscaping and using different products to incorporate beauty and functionality for residential and commercial landscapes.

What are you most excited about in your new position as Siegmund Landscape Supply’s Store Manager?

I am excited to offer customers a high-level of product knowledge and sharing with them information about the many possible uses, combinations and functions of the materials we sell.

What will be the most challenging aspect of your job?

A challenging aspect that comes with this new job is transitioning from being the actual contractor who installs, builds and creates the landscape, to the guy selling the products. The jobs are similar, in that they are service related, and I’m excited and feel confident I can provide Siegmund’s customers with value in this new role.

Are there any materials or types of projects you really enjoy?

Over the last four or five years I’ve really gotten into the hardscape side of landscaping. Hardscaping is basically anything “rock” related, such as flagstones, large boulders, creek bed rock, decorative gravels, pavers, and natural or manufactured stone.

What is the most commonly asked question you get from customers?

“How can I rejuvenate my backyard into a beautiful place to relax, entertain and have fun?” It’s something we all want, and the products we have in our barkyard offer an endless number of possibilities.

Do you have any landscaping projects you’re currently working on that you can tell us about?

I’m currently working on a 1200 square-foot, two-tiered paver patio with an 8-foot wide paver staircase and matching retaining wall planters on each side. When it’s completed there will be stone benches surrounding the 45-feet perimeter and a 50-inch stone circle fire pit. We’re on track to finish this project so the client can have one heck of a Fourth of July party!

Tell me about your work/life balance.

I work hard, am focused, intense, and get things done when I’m on the job, but when the work day is over it’s time to enjoy life! I have two daughters that my wife and I enjoy spending time with at home and on family vacations. We are also active members of Foothills Church in Stayton; our involvement with our church and with family are definite priorities in our life.

Have you always lived in the Santiam Canyon region?

I was born and raised in Stayton, Oregon and—except for the four and a half years I went to Western Oregon University in Monmouth—I have lived here my entire life.

Tell us what you like to do in your spare time.

I love to watch my oldest daughter play basketball and my youngest play soccer and sing in the choir. I enjoy getting outdoors, whether it’s hiking around the many falls in our area, going the Oregon Coast, or camping out in the woods. I also love helping the youth group at church, watching middle school and high school sports, and going on dates with my beautiful wife Vicky.

What are you looking forward to in the coming months at Siegmund Landscape Supply?

I’m looking forward to working alongside the crew of outstanding workers already there, trying to expand the reach of people who buy from Siegmund Landscape Supply, and offering more products to the public and contractors in the area. Basically, when people in our area ask, “where can I get my landscape materials,” I want to help create an environment where “Siegmund Landscape Supply” is the resounding answer.

Working with highly skilled landscape artists is business-as-usual for our company, and that’s why we’re so excited to welcome our new Store Manager Chad Storey to the Siegmund Landscape team!
