Dave, who grew up near Independence, Oregon, began driving farm truck in 1971. He got his commercial license in 1975 and started hauling wheat to the docks in Portland. He soon switched to hauling steel, intrastate at first, then interstate once he turned 21. Dave honed his skills over the years, building forestry roads and rocking Bonneville power lines, hauling cryogenics in California, and owning his own tree and custom tractor business. After moving back to Oregon in the mid-90s, Dave purchased his own dump truck and began offering custom dump truck, tractor and tree service, occasionally working with Siegmund Excavation & Construction as an independent owner/operator. After parking his truck, he drove for a few other companies, before officially joining the Siegmund crew in 2013.
Dave’s family loved to travel, and by the time he was two years old, he had been through 39 states. He met his future wife, Teresa, in California in 1982. They were married in 1983 and now have two adult sons. Daniel lives in Virginia with his wife, and Jason, a US Air Force staff sergeant is based in Great Falls, Montana with his wife and two step daughters. When not working, Dave and Teresa enjoy tinkering around their property, hiking, camping, traveling, spending time with their dogs Chief and Scooter, and riding Dave’s custom built 2005 Indian Chief motorcycle.
